Learn to Skateboard
Outdoor Chattanooga’s Learn to Skateboard Program provides formal instruction and equipment for beginners and intermediate riders to learn and develop their skills to safely and confidently skateboard on flat ground and skate park features. From your first push to your first ollie, our instructors will be right beside you offering instruction and encouragement. These free classes are offered regularly throughout the year and can be joined anytime but we limit one free class per person per year. Don’t have a board? No worries, we can provide one along with protective gear like a helmet, wrist guards, elbow and knee pads at no additional cost. Appropriate for ages 8+. Online reservations required in advance. Instructional Classes
These free, 90-minute classes are taught by local experts at the City of Chattanooga’s Chatt Town Skate Park, located downtown. The park has modular features to practice on and is a great location to learn and develop skills at. Instructors will teach skatepark etiquette, safety, and foundational skills such as body and foot positioning, balancing, pushing, turning, and tic tacking, plus how to fall safely and equipment care. Outdoor Chattanooga can provide skateboards and protective equipment for the class at no additional cost or participants can bring their own. Online reservations are required as space and gear is limited. Appropriate for ages 8+ and we encourage adults to try too! Most classes are for true beginners with a few 201 classes that teach more advanced techniques and skills. See the schedule below or click on the link to register.

FAQs
Do I have to make a reservation?
Yes, online reservations are required to attend as space and equipment is limited. Click here to sign up!
Do I need to have my own equipment?
No, Outdoor Chattanooga can provide all the equipment including skateboard, helmet, knee, and elbow pads. If you have your own equipment you are welcome to use it. Helmets are required for all riders.
How much does it cost?
All classes are free! We ask that you only register and attend one free class per year.
Do I have to have experience to participate?
No. This class is perfect for beginners to intermediate riders looking to learn and develop their skills.
Is this class just for kids?
No. This class is appropriate for ages 8+ and we encourage adults to try it too!
