Chattanooga is a premier hiking destination with more than 50 trailheads and over 100-miles of singletrack trails within 30 minutes of downtown. With so many trails to explore near the Scenic City, it can be overwhelming finding where to go and how to get there. That’s why we’ve compiled our favorites into this Chattanooga Classic Hikes Series. As the local experts on all things outdoors, our experienced guides will lead you on a walk in the woods to explore some of the most classic trails and scenic vistas Chattanooga has to offer. All hikes are FREE but do require advance online registration as space is limited. Details about the classic hikes can be found below. Full hike details are given after confirmed registration. Unless otherwise noted, most hikes are beginner and family-friendly but do take place on remote, singletrack trails and rugged terrain. Beginner hikers will find it challenging but certainly attainable. Outdoor Chattanooga requires participants have some hiking experience and be in good physical shape to hike up to 4-miles continuously on sections rated as moderately strenuous. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. For more information click on the hikes below or call (423) 643-6888.

We offer several guided hikes throughout the year. Details about the section, distance hiked and where to meet are given with online registration.

How much does it cost?
FREE! 
Do I have to make a reservation in advance?
Yes, we limit the number of participants to ensure a quality experience. Click here to visit our catalog and register online or call 423-643-6888. 
Do I need to have hiking experience to participate?
Although helpful, prior hiking experience is not required. Participants need to be physically able to hike up to 4-miles consistently on uneven terrain.
Can I bring my dog?
Although we love dogs and hiking with our own pups, we don’t allow pets to join our hikes at this time. Thanks for understanding.

Did You Know?

Completing short section hikes with Outdoor Chattanooga will earn you credit toward the 50 miler award from the Cumberland Trail Conference (CTC). To earn the 50 miler award, individuals must complete 50 unique miles on the Cumberland Trail and complete 10 hours of service work with the CTC.
