The lightly graveled greenway that runs atop the Brainerd Levee is a perfect off road bicycling destination for beginners, children and those who want easy, flat terrain.
The levee’s special feature is an adjacent wetland, which serves as a stopover site for dozens of migrating waterfowl in the spring and fall, including Sandhill and Whooping Cranes.
With a paved loop around Camp Jordan Park in the City of East Ridge, the trail runs one way for 5.5 miles from the trailhead at Shallowford Rd.
Part of the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway, the Levee and Camp Jordan loop will eventually join a greenway system that will connect to downtown Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain.
