South Chickamauga Creek ~ Adventure Canoe Series
The South Chickamauga Creek is a tributary of the Tennessee River and part of the Tennessee River Blueway. It is an east to west free flowing creek with navigable sections that pass through the heart of downtown Chattanooga. Boaters can enjoy 13 miles of creek with multiple public access points.
The South Chickamauga Creek Adventure Canoe Series will highlight 4 different sections of the Creek. Join Outdoor Chattanooga’s experienced guide staff to tour one, or all four sections of the creek and get a view of Chattanooga that many have not experienced.
All equipment is provided. Some experience is needed as there are sections that require navigation skills and portaging around hazards in the creek. Expect about 2-3 hours on the water. Return shuttle to your vehicle is provided. At low water levels sandbars may require getting your feet wet to portage. This creek section gets its charm from the many twists and turns of tree lined riverbank.
This trip is appropriate for children 10 and up. Children and adult must be able to assist with carrying the canoe and navigating their canoe.
Cost is $25 per person.
