Rapid Learning RIVER/Whitewater Kayak Instruction
July 22 @ 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Formal river instruction provides beginning paddlers the proper techniques and guided practice to safely and comfortably paddle moving water up to class III+ whitewater.
Beginner trips are on class I-II whitewater. These instructional on water classes are offered on a variety of whitewater rivers in the southeast in a small ratio group setting with the emphasis on building skills according to the pace of each individual. Class size is kept small to ensure quality instruction. Equipment is provided if needed. Our instructors are experienced teachers, have paddled a variety of rivers worldwide, and are American Canoe Association (ACA) nationally certified.
Participants are eligible to attend river trips once they have demonstrated essential skills such as confident wet exits, basic self rescue, and can effectively maneuvering the kayak.
Pre-requisite: Have participated in at least one fundamentals of kayaking and skills practice through the Rapid Learning Program at Chester Frost Park Wednesday nights from 6-7 or 7-8 pm. The skills practice is free the first time, then it is a pay ahead/membership program. No membership required if you use all of your own equipment. It takes time to master these skills! See you on the river.
To Register call Outdoor Chattanooga at 423-643-6888 or register at the skills practice. Additional details are provided at this time.
River trip fees do apply.
