Public Lands Day

September 28 @ 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

A signature event of the National Environmental Education Foundation, it promotes both popular enjoyment and volunteer conservation of public lands.

Connect with us and nature on the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway! We’ll begin the day with a few volunteer service projects along the greenway to help keep this beautiful trail looking its best.  After getting your hands dirty, take a closer look at what’s along the greenway with a grassland BioBlitz and recreation opportunities.

National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. Held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, NPLD brings together hundreds of thousands of individual and organizational volunteers to help restore the country’s public lands. On NPLD, volunteers work with land managers to complete various service projects like building bridges and trails, planting native species, collecting trash, and removing invasive species. These service projects also give volunteers the opportunity to learn more about public lands and understand the environmental, economic, and health benefits they provide.

Come out to the Sterchi Farm on the South Chickamauga Creek Greenway to learn more!
