Paddle Smart: An Introduction to Flatwater Paddling

Join Outdoor Chattanooga for an introduction to flatwater paddling course that will give you the confidence to safely and smartly paddle Chattanooga’s scenic waterways!  Bring your own kayak or borrow one of ours.

Paddle Smart Chattanooga is an introduction to flatwater kayaking taught by Outdoor Chattanooga’s experienced paddling instructors to provide the fundamentals of kayaking on local lakes, waterways and Blueway trails in the region.

Each class starts with the essentials of kayaking and is designed for beginner to intermediate kayakers who wish to develop skills for safe, responsible, and enjoyable kayaking on in recreational kayaks,  traditional decked kayaks, inflatables, and sit on tops. Note: Use of spray-skirts is not part of this course.   Topics covered will cover paddling techniques, navigation essentials, entry and exit practices, self rescue techniques, TN boater laws, understanding CFS-water flow and how it can affect you, safety precautions and resources for recreational paddling in the Chattanooga area as well as considerations for transporting your craft.

Ages:
This class is appropriate for children as young as 10 years of age, but they must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Online Registration is required. Class size is limited.
