Learn how to ride a bicycle in as little as one class, or come see us to refresh your rusty skills. The class consists of a set of exercises and balance drills that are designed to help beginner riders of all ages progress at their own speed and ability.
This is a FREE 1.5 hour lesson and pre-registration is REQUIRED. We recommend this class for ages 5+. Small class size for quality instruction. Wait lists are common and often called. Please be courteous if you have registered and no longer can attend to remove your name(s) from the registration.
Outdoor Chattanooga staff utilize curriculum outlined by League of American Bicyclists:
-ABC quick check
-Balance, starting, stopping and pedaling
-Bicycle fit and seating position
-How gears and brakes work
-Types of bicycles
-Parts of the bicycle as basic maintenance
-Helmet fit and safety checks
-Rules for sidewalk, greenway and beginner road riding
-Roadway signage and hand signaling
Outdoor Chattanooga can provide bicycles for adults and kids which is indicated in registration. This class is open to ALL AGES, but recommended for ages 5 and up. Parents are required to remain with their child in the program. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST WEAR A HELMET and CLOSE-TOED SHOES. Thanks to a partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation, complimentary helmets are available for participants who may have outgrown theirs or do not have a proper fit.
Pre-Registration is required.
*PLEASE NOTE* We changed our registration system on 3/4/2024 to a new software called Xplor Recreation. Even if you have participated in our programs in the past, you will have to make a new account and sign the waiver. If you need any assistance, check out this guide.
