Learn to: Mountain Bike Clinic

July 13 @ 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Join Outdoor Chattanooga for a beginner mountain biking clinic specifically designed for those who are new to mountain biking or have minimal off-road riding experience. Equipment is provided!  Our goal is to provide you with a solid foundation of skills and knowledge to kickstart your journey into the exciting world of mountain biking.

Here’s what you can expect from the clinic:

  1. Introduction to Mountain Biking: We’ll start with an overview of the basics, including different types of mountain bikes, essential gear, and the anatomy of a mountain bike.
  2. Safety and Etiquette: Safety is paramount in mountain biking. We’ll cover important safety practices, trail etiquette, and how to share the trails responsibly with other users.
  3. Bike Setup and Fit: Proper bike setup is crucial for comfort and control on the trails. We’ll help you adjust your bike’s saddle height, handlebar position, and suspension settings to suit your body and riding style.
  4. Body Positioning: We’ll teach you the correct body positioning for different riding situations, including climbing, descending, and cornering. Proper body positioning is essential for balance, stability, and control on the trail.
  5. Basic Skills Practice: We’ll focus on fundamental riding skills such as braking, shifting gears, and maintaining balance at slow speeds. You’ll have the opportunity to practice these skills in a controlled environment under the guidance of experienced instructors.
  6. Trail Riding Techniques: Once you’ve mastered the basics, we’ll introduce you to essential trail riding techniques such as negotiating obstacles, navigating tight turns, and riding over varied terrain.
  7. Climbing and Descending: Climbing and descending are two of the most challenging aspects of mountain biking. We’ll teach you proper techniques for climbing steep hills and descending safely and confidently.
  8. Trail Navigation: Understanding trail markers and reading trail maps is essential for navigating unfamiliar trails. We’ll provide tips and tricks for finding your way on the trails and planning your rides effectively.
  9. Q&A Session: We’ll wrap up the clinic with a Q&A session where you can ask any questions you may have about mountain biking, gear, or trail etiquette.

Need a bike? No problem! Outdoor Chattanooga can provide a mountain bike and helmet with reservation.  Personal equipment is allowed but must be in proper working order.
