Join Outdoor Chattanooga and field biologist Laura Marsh for a unique “Cuckoo Canoe Tour” on the calm waters of North (South?) Chickamauga Creek to learn about (and hopefully hear or see) the Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Laura is excited to share her past involvement as a biologist with the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center to determine where conservation efforts are most necessary along a bird’s migration journey.
While paddling along the quiet, shaded creek, we hope to see a cuckoo and other unique birds as this is the peak of their migration. In addition, we may also see great blue herons, turtles, kingfishers, and other wildlife. Prior to departure, you’ll receive basic paddling instruction, water safety information, and be properly outfitted in a lifejacket and canoe.
