We’ll be using Christina Rossetti’s poem, Goblin Market, to guide discussion about how consumption impacts humans, human nature, and the Earth herself. While her poetry lacks facts and figures about consumption, the Industrial Era writer proposes interesting ideas about (over)consumption and its consequences. As Rossetti wrote during the peak of capitalism’s rise, she questions its impact on morality and sustainability.
There’s no need to read beforehand but the poem can be found here.
