Chattanooga Classic Hike Series: Rock Creek Loop

Chattanooga is a premier hiking destination with more than 50 trailheads and over 100-miles of singletrack trails within 30 minutes of downtown. With so many trails to explore near the Scenic City, it can be overwhelming finding where to go and how to get there. That’s why we’ve compiled our favorites into this Chattanooga Classic Hikes Series. As the local experts on all things outdoors, our experienced guides will lead you on a walk in the woods to explore some of the most classic trails and scenic vistas Chattanooga has to offer. Whether you’re a long-time local or a first-time visitor, these guided hikes are sure to instill joy, wonder, and appreciation.
All hikes are FREE and require advance registration as space is limited. Details about this classic hike can be found below. Full details are given after confirmed registration. Unless otherwise noted, most hikes are beginner and family-friendly that take place on remote, singletrack trails and rugged terrain. Outdoor Chattanooga’s guides will lead a moderately strenuous 5-mile roundtrip hike on a section of the Cumberland Trail. This classic Chattanooga hike along the Cumberland Trail is rated as moderately strenuous with 300 ft elevation gain. You’ll be rewarded with wildflowers, wildlife, and creek crossings. Due to COVID, we will not be offering a shuttle. This will be an out-and-back,5-mile round-trip hike. Appropriate for ages 12 and up with a participating adult. Cost: Free. Online registration required in advance as space is limited.
