Canoe the North Chickamauga Creek with TenneSEA
April 29 @ 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Join the Tennessee Student Environmental Alliance in celebrating their 15th anniversary with a guided canoe tour on the calm waters of North Chickamauga Creek at Greenway Farm. For 15 years TenneSEA has overseen water quality and stormwater education projects in our local watersheds. Members of the Young Professionals Board will be present to discuss the Lower Tennessee River watershed and features of North Chickamauga Creek before and during the canoe trip. Outdoor Chattanooga will provide guides and equipment for the beginner-friendly canoe tour. Prior to departure, you’ll receive basic paddling instruction, water safety information and be properly outfitted in a lifejacket and canoe.
Cost is $10 per person which includes guides on the water and all the canoe equipment (tandem canoe, paddles, lifejackets, and lights). This canoe tour is appropriate for ages 5+ when accompanied by an adult. Some prior canoeing/paddling experience is helpful but not required to participate in this tour. Guides will offer basic paddling instruction and provide on water support throughout the duration of the tour, which lasts approximately 2 hours.
All participants are required to sign a waiver. A parent or guardian must sign and accompany children under the age of 18. Lifejackets are required and provided ranging from child’s small (50lb and up) to adult XL. Children under 50 lbs. must bring their own life jacket.
Capacity per canoe is up to 2 adults with 1 child (weighing 100 lbs or less) who can sit as a rider on the floor of the canoe. The total weight in the canoe is not to exceed 550 lbs per canoe. This is for the safety and comfort of participants to not exceed this limitation.
