Blueway Paddle Trails Adventure on the South Chick Creek

Blueway Way Paddle Trails- Adventure Series South Chickamauga Creek: Shallowford Rd to Sterchi Farm Park Embark on a scenic 6-mile kayak journey along the South Chickamauga Creek Blueway, paddling from Shallowford Road to Sterchi Farm Park. This leisurely downstream route winds through forested banks, peaceful wetlands, and gentle currents, offering a perfect escape into nature just minutes from Chattanooga. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to spot great blue herons, turtles, kingfishers, and maybe even a river otter as you navigate the calm, meandering waters. The creek’s gradual flow and occasional sandbars make it an ideal trip for both beginners and experienced paddlers. About halfway through, take a break at one of the many shaded banks or simply float and enjoy the serene, secluded atmosphere. As you near Sterchi Farm Park, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful open views of the surrounding meadows and wetlands before your takeout point.
