Skating is a unique mixture of creative expression and extreme sport that builds balance, agility, and self-confidence. In Chattanooga you can catch skateboarders, roller skaters, inline skaters, BMXers, and even scooters tearing up the banks and transitions at Chatt Town Skatepark, slyly seshing at street spots, and cruising down the paths of the TN Riverwalk. Types of Skating in Chattanooga

Inline roller skates are made up of a boot with two to five wheels attached to the bottom using a frame. The wheels are arranged in a single line.

Quad roller skates are made up of a shoe or boot with four wheels attached to the bottom using trucks. The wheels are arranged in the same configuration as a typical car.

Skateboards are traditionally made of a wooden deck with wheels attached to the bottom of the deck using trucks.  The wheels are arranged in the same configuration as a typical car.

Ice Skates are made up of a boot with a metal runner to glide on top of the ice.

Artistic skating is similar to figure skating but with quad or inline skates; disciplines included in this style category include figures, freestyle, dance, and precision.

Aggressive skating emphasizes the execution of tricks such as grinds, stalls, and jumps; disciplines included in this style category include street skating, park skating, and vert skating.

Trail skating – Trail skating is exactly what it sounds like, skating on trails; it’s done for fun, exercise, or training for skating marathons.

Roller Derby is a roller-skating contact sport played by two teams of fifteen members.

Roller Hockey is a variation of ice hockey played on inline roller skates.
