Outdoor Ambassador Program 2017
This is the registration and information session to participate in the 2017 Outdoor Ambassador program as an Outings Leader.
The City of Chattanooga’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and Outdoor Chattanooga are creating a movement to bring more cultural and racial diversity to the areas outdoor scene. Outdoor Ambassadors inspire others to participate in outdoor adventures, assist with community outreach and act as outings leaders in the greater Chattanooga area.
REQUIREMENTS Schedule 2017
This session shares the detailed information about the program, expectations, leader requirements, policies, and insurance issues. Anyone interested must attend one class: February 21, 5:30 PM- 8:00 PM or March 8, 5:30 PM- 8PM
BACKGROUND CHECK and PHYSICAL
To be scheduled and completed through the Office of Multicultural Affairs/ City of Chattanooga prior to leading an outing.
FIRST AID CERTIFICATION CLASS
Outdoor Ambassadors must hold a current first aid certification. We R CPR is holding a class on Saturday morning, March 11, at Outdoor Chattanooga. It is a 3 hour class and the fee is $35.00. You are welcome to seek certification independently and is recorded.
SIERRA CLUB OUTINGS LEADER TRAINING/ OUTDOOR AMBASSADORS

Noon- 4:30 PM
This mandatory class covers information all trip leaders, Outdoor Ambassadors, should know including guidelines on planning and conducting an outing, safety management and emergency response.
Outings Leaders must apprentice at least one public outing with another certified trip leader, or an Outdoor Chattanooga public trip before taking lead on their own. Opportunities to gain more experience in additional outdoor activities is available upon request.
